House Spoilers: Guess Who is Casted as Cuddy's Sister?

Yes!  Paula Marshall is Cuddy's sister!  Here on TV Guide's Kecks Exclusive is a write up on Paula Marshall as she lands the role of Cuddy's sister. Let's read on ...

Seems everyone in the Cuddy family wants to meet the good doctor's boyfriend. Wouldn't you? Following news that Candice Bergen will arrive on House in January as Cuddy's mom, Arlene, comes word that actress Paula Marshall has just been cast as Cuddy's sister, Lucinda.

"Cuddy's in a relationship now and the boyfriend's meeting the family," explains executive producer David Shore, who hints at some secrecy involving Lucinda's presence. Paula, a familiar face on TV since the mid '90s, is probably best known for her roles on Gary Unmarried, Californication and Nip/Tuck. She is also expected to arrive in January.

As for as-yet-unseen members of Dr. House's family paying a visit — like Mr. Grumpy's biological father — Shore says "that's something we talk about on a regular basis," but nothing's on the map just yet.

House Spoilers: InHouse 7x08 "Small Sacrifices" Vlog with David Hoselton

David Hoselton, the writer of the episode "Small Sacrifices", is featured in the InHouse iPhone app video blog.  He talks about the wedding House and the team attended, Sam and Wilson, and what inspired him to do this story about the patient-of-the-week who has a unique kind of religious practice.  He mentioned the Philippines, where I come from.  And yes, true enough, there are still some Filipinos who are fanatics and who still practice this kind of sacrifice which is to be crucified during the Holy Week, like what Christ did before on the cross. No matter how crazy it may seem, I respect their kind of belief and would want to get the same respect from others.  Thanks to drhouseforum3 for sharing this video.

House Spoilers: Fox All Access Interview with Amber Tamblyn

Amber Tamblyn, who is set to join House's team on Nov. 8, Monday night on FOX, was caught by FOX All Access in an interview.  Here is what transpired during the interview.  Read on...

FAA: How does your character, Martha, get introduced to House?

Amber: “Martha’s introduction to House is I guess a unique one. I feel like people, characters on the show often push back against House, that’s kind of the ritual of the show, but for her it really comes from not as much an intellectual place even though she does say it’s intellectual – it’s a very genuine, new feeling for her to come into this environment and to work with someone who she says, you know, is a legend. She says that, House is a legend. So she’s here working with him but suddenly she’s finding this person, this other side of House that she didn’t know about which is this person who breaks the rules, who does what’s best for the patient, which is not always honest, so for her it’s really sort of going up against that.”

FAA: What can we expect to see in the first episode?

Amber: “In this first episode where Martha’s introduced, she has to learn the difference between being honest with a patient and doing what’s best for a patient and she goes with her honesty and integrity and House does not, and they really clash in that way. She definitely is the opposite of him in the way that she thinks.”

FAA: So how would you say Martha and House relate to one another, and how’s that going to challenge House?

Amber: “Martha relates to House on an IQ level in the sense that they are both very brilliant only he’s a very negative person in a lot of ways and she’s very peppy and excited to be there and so they sort of clash at certain points but at the same time when they’re trying to figure something out it’s like, you know, two of the best brains working together.”

FAA: So aside from Martha being brilliant, how else would you describe her?

Amber: “She is someone who is incredibly smart and very much socially awkward and often makes jokes that no one else can understand, jokes about fungus. She’s a crazy non sequitur, her brain just doesn’t, you know, link up in the ways that ours do so when they were describing it to me I thought, “Wow that’s kind of really brilliant to bring someone in that is as much in their own world of integrity and intelligence in the way that House is, you know, but in an opposite way.”

FAA: How would you describe the dynamics between Martha and Cuddy?

Amber: “The dynamic between Cuddy and Martha is very interesting. From what I gather Martha is sort of a young Cuddy, which is one of the reasons she was interested in presenting her to House – because Martha reminded her of a lot of herself. So for her this is really about House opening up to a new person that is just as smart but again will challenge him.”

House Spoilers: Thirteen Will Definitely Return to "House"

EW.com has news that Olivia Wilde who plays the role of Thirteen, will be back on "House" this season.  Read on to find out more about her coming back to the diagnostic team.

Olivia Wilde — aka the beloved Thirteen — has some good news for House fans: She will definitely return to the Fox drama this season! Wilde took a leave of absence this fall to shoot a starring role in the big-budget sci-fi Western Cowboys and Aliens but confirms to EW that her comeback is already in the works.

“I am coming back to House. This season, as a matter of fact. It is a done deal,” Wilde told EW while attending the 19th Annual BAFTA LA Britannia Awards Thursday in Los Angeles. “I have been really lucky this year to be offered all these great film opportunities and I was also blessed to have a job in TV that really worked with me to get me to a place where I could do those films and not miss those opportunities like Tron.

“They have it all worked out and the viewers will find out where she went and why she left,” Wilde continued.  “I think it is an interesting progression for her. Thirteen has been through a lot so it has to be escalated.  She has Huntington’s. She had a brain tumor and went blind. She had a bad breakup. She’s sexually ambiguous.  She had problems with drugs. I thought, `What else can (creator) David Shore possibly come up with?’ They had to take it to a whole new level. They are really taking some big risks this year, which is exciting.”

Until then, Wilde said she’s working on the body-swapping comedy The Change Up with Ryan Reynolds, Leslie Mann and Jason Bateman. “We’re shooting in Atlanta. It is so boring and dull. No one laughs. We just sit around and cry all day. [Laughs]. No, it is absolutely the funniest job.” — With reporting from Carrie Bell

House Spoilers: Fancast Interview with Amber Tamblyn

Here is Fancast's interview by Matt Webb Mitovich with Amber Tamblyn on "House" and "127 Hours":

Amber Tamblyn is on the cusp of having a moment.

Starting this Friday, she can be seen in ‘127 Hours,’ a big-screen telling of the real-life drama experienced by Aron Ralston, the mountain climber who in 2003 resorted to amputating his arm after being pinned down in a crevasse. Then starting Monday, the actress delves into fictionalized drama with an extended run on Fox’s ‘House,’ where she plays überbrilliant med student Martha M. Masters.

Tamblyn, whose past TV credits include ‘Joan of Arcadia’ and ‘The Unusuals,’ spoke with us at length about these two exciting new projects.

I’ve already seen your first two ‘House’ episodes and you have some great banter with Hugh Laurie. For an actress, is that like the ultimate tennis match?

Yeah, that was pretty fun. It’s really hard to do that back-and-forth and then the next minute you have to say some crazy medical term. It’s definitely a challenge!

What do you enjoy most about Martha M. Masters – outside of her magnificent moniker?

I love her social awkwardness, her inability to connect with the other teammates. She’s not really one of the guys; she’s the outcast. I know that’s strange to like, but it somehow comes off funny and endearing, because she is trying. She’s a cute little nerd.

In what I’ve seen thus far, she’s mostly holding her ground when at odds with House. Will she gradually come around, though, to his Machiavellian methods?

She’s going to try, and that’s going to screw her up. And then he’s going to try [to understand her], and that’s going to screw him up. It’s an interesting give-and-take.

What sort of things will we learn about Martha over the coming weeks?

One of the great things about the show is there isn’t going to be a lot of [exposition] at first. You really learn about her just through the situations she’s put through at work. That’s what creates how we know her and what we know of her.

When I saw Jesse Spencer in August, he was more than game to hint at a little “something” developing between Chase and Martha. Has that materialized in any of the scripts yet?

What?! He was lying to you!

Well, I think he likes to think that Chase woos all the ladies.

Yeah, he likes to think that Chase is a mac daddy, maybe. But not that I know of! I doubt anything [romantic] is going to materialize because as I’ve said, Martha is like the kid sister. She’s not a sex symbol to them. She’s intellectually out of their league, and that’s not attractive to them – if that makes any sense.

For about how many episodes do we have you?

I think it’s going to be around 13.

Really? That’s fantastic. I’ve been putting it out there that Martha is quite the breath of fresh air.

Oh, sweet! That makes me happy to hear. I was worried she might come off as obnoxious, but we’ve been monitoring that and making sure it’s not the case.

Turning to ‘127 Hours’: I watched a few preview clips before this interview, and though one gave me the heeby-jeebies, I’m definitely going to see the film. I mean, I think I can see it….

You can see it. [Laughs] Everybody is exaggerating how scary it is.

How does your character figure into Aron’s story?

Megan is one of two hikers that Aron (played by James Franco) meets in the beginning. ['Brokeback Mountain's Kate Mara plays the other.] They have a lot of fun, they videotape each other.… Our characters serve as the comedic relief – the dopamine – for the rest of the film, which is a very dark ride. It’s a way for Aron, when he’s trapped, to look back at this video and see how much fun he had. It lets the audience breathe for a moment during a very difficult time.

You had no less than Danny Boyle (’Slumdog Millionaire,’ ‘28 Days Later’) for a director. How was that?

Oh gosh, he’s so amazing. He’s very free and funny and he’s very interested in knowing what the actors want to do and try in scenes. He’s a very open director.

James Franco, meanwhile, seems to be really keeping us guessing these days as to what he’s all about. Acting, performance art, soap opera roles, examinations of ‘Three’s Company’…. What was your impression of him?

I think that people in the media and entertainment world are just not used to this, so it feels very strange.  In a lot of European countries, it’s very common to have actors cross over into different art genres, but here if you do it, it’s sometimes done poorly and it’s easy to make fun of people for it. James is a very beautiful person in that sense that he’s an overall artist.

What are we to make of reports that people are fainting at ‘127 Hours’ screenings?

I think maybe a person has done that, but…. The cutting off of the arm is under three minutes of the movie.  This is a thing where people hear that other people having “fainted” at the movie, so they just faint. [On Wednesday] night, a woman had an actual seizure at the screening, but she happened to have been diabetic, so it was totally unrelated. And yet all of a sudden I get a text from my publicist [about it]! That’s the kind of incorrect stuff that’s happening. It’s making people think it’s this “horror film” all about him cutting his arm off, but that’s a tiny portion of the sequence. It’s really a very triumphant and soulful film that’s even at times funny, because he makes jokes about being stuck.

What do you hope people take away from seeing the film?

It’s the ultimate message story about what happens when the metaphorical boulder in your life traps you. What happens when the thing that stops you – the thing that needed to stop you, to change the trajectory of your life – finally does? Do you choose to die from it or free yourself from it? The real Aron will tell you that he thought living an extreme sports life was living, when really he wasn’t connecting with people. Had this [crisis] not happened, he would not have stopped to think about that. The film is testament to how brilliant Danny [Boyle] is, in that you can sit and sweat your whole body off for an hour and a half when the main character never moves, he’s just trapped in this one position. And that is pretty fantastic.

House Spoilers: Yummy "House" Spoilers for the Coming Episodes

Sandra Gonzalez of EW.com's The Hollywood Insider shares to us some meaty yummy spoilers for the next episodes to come.  Here they are below:

HOUSE
(Nov. 15 episode, “A Pox on Our House”)

What you know:

A girl is admitted into Princeton Plainsboro with smallpox-like symptoms. And after a man from the Center for Disease Control prevents House’s team from getting close enough to work the case, House makes a move that puts him in great risk. Noticeably missing from much of the action? Wilson, who is busy having adorable scenes with a 6-year-old chemotherapy patient.

What you don’t know:

    * House enlists the services of a Dutch woman who works in the online sex industry.
    * New doc Masters (Amber Tamblyn) calls someone the “sexiest American man.”
    * One character starts thinking about babies.
    * House calls someone “a passive-aggressive bitch.”

This is going to be real exciting.  I wonder who it is that Amber is referring to as the "sexiest American man", could it be Jesse Spencer?  But he's not American so who could it be?  Any guesses?  Hit the comments section below.

House Spoilers: ET Preview of "Office Politics"

Thanks to MsHousefan for this video from Entertainment Tonight.  Amber Tamblyn is featured in this video as she joins "House" on this 7th Season as Martha M. Masters, a third year med student.  I'm sure her intelligence is at par with all her colleagues in the diagnostic team.  Only she seems too kind and nice.  Soo opposite of House. =)

House Spoilers: "Office Politics" Extra Video - Master's Degree

Here is an extra video from MsHousefan that shows Amber Tamblyn's character Martha Masters and how her addition to the team affects everyone. Surely, everyone on the team was surprised by Masters as she answers House's test questions showing her unique intelligence. Taub on the otherhand is a little bit insecure that Masters is working beside them when she's still a med student and they are doctors. I'm so excited to really see this episode next week. Enjoy this video now!
